Skulltastic Ceramics
Joe Sanders
Ceramics 2
For my pieces I have focused on making a set of decorative items that are still able to be used in a practical manner. Some of the pieces are strictly decorative based on the way that I made their surface design and geometry. I wheel threw most of the pieces, and they all have a hand-built component attached to them. My cohesive element is the ox skull that I have on each piece. The reason that I decided to add this element is because I have been playing around with drawing ox skulls and other animal skulls since I joined the natural forensics club, so I wanted to incorporate my drawing passion into my ceramics work. This passion sparked for me when the club was working on making a logo, and we wanted to have an ox skull incorporated into the logo. I am proud of my growth throughout this semester in my ceramics career by making my pieces have more components and surface design. I can’t wait to continue my journey in ceramics next year.
